Hurricane Ida – Managing Locks and Extensions
As we continue to work through disaster recovery from Hurricane Ida, the Lock Desk is making certain accommodations to help you and your borrowers. We ask that you work through your pipeline and notify the lock desk of any locks that need to be cancelled due to fallout or damage.
The Lock Desk is taking care of locks expiring today and extending them until next Monday September 13th on loans where the milestone is conditionally approved or forward to give you time to assess the impact. This applies to loans in all areas whether impacted or not.
We ask that you review loans that are expiring through the rest of the week and request extensions as necessary.
For Conventional and RD Loans
• Loans located in a disaster area expiring tomorrow and forward will receive a free extension until September 13th to allow time for our staff to catch up.
• Encompass / Optimal Blue will allow you to manually extend the locks at no extra cost so please extend through Encompass/OB if you need an extension.
• When possible, please use the system to request the lock.
For FHA/VA loans in a Disaster Area Only
• As disaster certification cannot be obtained until at least September 9th, GMFS will extend the lock upon request until Thursday September 23rd at no cost as long as they are currently in conditionally approved status or further.
• This should allow time for you to obtain the appropriate disaster documentation after the storm end date.
• We would like you to email the lock desk to make that request for all locks expiring this week.
• Today’s Expiring FHA loans were extended automatically.
Please notify the Lock Desk about all cancellations. Thank you for your patience during this time.
